Mentor–Mentee Cell

The Mentor–Mentee Cell of Indraprastha Institute of Management & Technology (IIMT), Saharanpur is established to provide academic guidance, personal support and career-oriented mentoring to students throughout their academic journey.

Under the Mentor–Mentee system, faculty members are assigned as mentors to a group of students. The mentor regularly interacts with the mentees, monitors their academic progress, understands their concerns and provides appropriate guidance for their overall development.

The system aims to develop a healthy and supportive relationship between faculty members and students and creates an environment where students can freely discuss academic, professional and institutional concerns.

Objectives of the Mentor–Mentee Cell

Academic Guidance

To guide students in improving their academic performance, attendance and learning practices.

Student Support

To provide a supportive environment where students can discuss their academic and institutional concerns.

Career Development

To guide students regarding career opportunities, higher education, skill development and professional growth.

Overall Development

To encourage students to participate in academic, co-curricular and extracurricular activities.

Role of the Mentor

  • Monitor the academic performance and attendance of assigned mentees.
  • Conduct regular interaction and mentoring sessions.
  • Identify academic difficulties faced by students.
  • Guide students regarding study planning and academic improvement.
  • Encourage participation in seminars, workshops, competitions and other activities.
  • Provide guidance regarding career planning and higher education.
  • Maintain appropriate mentoring records wherever required.
  • Refer serious academic or institutional concerns to the concerned authority when necessary.

Role of the Mentee

  • Attend scheduled mentor–mentee meetings regularly.
  • Discuss academic difficulties with the assigned mentor.
  • Follow the academic guidance provided by the mentor.
  • Maintain regular attendance and academic discipline.
  • Inform the mentor about relevant academic concerns.
  • Actively participate in academic and skill-development activities.
  • Work towards improving academic and professional skills.
  • Maintain respectful and professional communication with the mentor.
